Communities for a Lifetime Video Showcases Community Best Practices
The best way to turn a good idea into a great one is to share it with others. With that in mind, the Department of Elder Affairs’ Communities for a Lifetime initiative worked with the Department’s Communications Office to produce a video showcasing a number of “best practices” developed by Florida communities that actively participate in Communities for a Lifetime. The professional-quality video was unveiled at the Florida Conference on Aging in Orlando in August, and will be used as a recruitment tool to encourage other communities to join the initiative. The video will be shown at seminars, conferences, workshops, meetings and other events around the state.
Communities for a Lifetime, in partnership with AARP’s Livable Communities, encourages community leaders and civic groups to facilitate community involvement and actively solicit contributions from people of all ages and abilities in community decision-making. The goal is to make each community an accommodating place where residents can thrive throughout the various stages of life, from childhood through their elder years.
